Visitor PhotoSo many books CD's and videos on the marketplace take the standpoint that those who purchase them have previous experience in painting & drawing. In my case I do have some drawing experience, but watercolours were a real challenge to me.

I had often looked at the work of contempories and wondered what the exact sequence of that composition might have been. Watercolour secrets has everything to move the beginner through to a reasonable standard of painting.

I believe that one of the main points about this series is that it does describe the step by step process by which one can achieve a better painting in the most simplistic possible terms that all can understand. Bob's manner of teaching too is such that like a good book, one is always inspired to move on to the next chapter.

I have referred back to this series on many occasions and take great delight in recommending it to others.

Ray from Northamptonshire, England.

Watercolour secrets is one of the best instructional tools that I have ever come across. The lessons are interesting and informative. Using the techniques taught here, one can create successful pieces of art that inspire one to keep going! Bravo.

Yvonne from Saskatchewan.

Bob's course is one of the best available. He teaches in style which takes you through the basics for watercolor painting and as a result you gain a much better understanding of how to use watercolors in you painting. I could not be happier with this course.

Howard from Oconomowoc, WI, USA

Visitor PhotoI have had 4 art teachers since I started painting just over 2 years ago. My first teacher was a wonderfully talented artist who changed my life. My second teacher demonstrated nothing and almost killed my love of painting by her poor teaching skills.

My third teacher was a watercolorist who first taught me the techniques of painting flowers with watercolor. I fell in love with watercolor but wanted to paint more than flowers.

Then I bought Watercolor Secrets.

Bob is my fourth teacher. He is interesting and knowledgeable and his lessons are never boring. He is always patient and will repeat things as many times as is necessary! To be able to learn to paint and improve painting skills it is so important to watch an artist at work who can also explain his technique in simple terms. Bob is that artist.

My laptop is next to my work and I watch and learn. Thank you Bob.

Audrey from Brittany, France

I am so glad to have subscribed to How to Draw and Paint! It was so informative and easy to use that I did not hesitate to purchase the Watercolour Secrets Course as soon as it came out. I have painted some of the landscapes now and it has taught me to be a lot bolder with values than I previously was, with the result that my paintings are richer and interesting now.

Thank you Bob. Looking forward to your next series!

Claude from Ottawa, Canada.

Local Art Group

I occasionally teach at a terrific local group in Ormskirk, Lancashire. They each have a copy of Watercolour Secrets and were kind enough to bring some pictures in for the group to look at:

I have been struggling with watercolour since I was recuperating from an illness in the year 2000. With so much time on my hands I used to watch anything related to art,i.e Bob Ross, Watercolour Challenge........ so I had a fair idea of the techniques, but my paintings never looked anything like the works of the experts.

But since I have found Bob Davies, and have purchased "Watercolour Secrets" I can honestly see an improvement in my work. Bob has opened my eyes and shown me what I had not been seeing before.

I still have problems with colour mixing and strength of colour but if my paintings improve, it's all part of the learning process, after all I'm only doing it for fun.

Thanks Bob, And thanks to my Wife for buying me that small box of paints that got me started.

Peter from Birmingham, England.

I have always been interested in watercolours, but never had the courage to give it a go. Even after buying some books I found I didn't have the confidence to complete a picture.

I found colour mixing very difficult and really lacked basic knowledge about techniques. Then I found Bob's site 'How to Draw and Paint' on-line and for the first time discovered someone who started at the beginning and in a very practical way took me through processes step by step.

I couldn't wait to try Watercolour Secrets and I haven't been disappointed. Unlike a lot of other books and programmes Bob is a 'teacher' not just a great artist. The WS programme is highly structured, developing skills step upon step so that it not only teaches the necessary techniques in a simple yet through way but also has allowed me to develop the confidence in my own ability to have a go!

I love how the programme is broken up into a series of short lessons so that it is possible to focus on a particular skill or technique and the section on drawing has really helped me. I loved the programme so much I've just bought the DVD set.

Thank you Bob for a wonderful teaching programme that has and will continue to give me many hours of pleasure, and a fabulous skill.

Mary from Northern Ireland.

Visitor PhotoI am so enjoying the Watercolour Secrets course and it has caused me many very late sleepless nights!!!

I have done a few of the exercises and they have turned out really well and what I like about them and the method of teaching is that they make anything seem possible.

Bob simplifies everything and makes it a lot easier to attempt what may seem too difficult at first. Everything is step by step and am sure that when I have finished all the exercises I will actually be a better painter...what more could I ask?

Judith from Manchester, England.

I am so new to watercolor - had a few lessons but the teacher left, so I turned to Watercolor Secrets and found it so helpful. The forums are great, just like a big family always someone that will assist me when needed.

A big thank you to Bob for having a terrific web sight. This is a must for any person who wants to learn or just want to mix with other people with the same interests.

Heather from Australia.

I first subscribed last October after seeing the free videos of Bob Davies. Liked his style and explanations and then decided to buy the DVDs.

Find them great. Got a lot of info and demonstration for little money. Even if they were more expensive I would have bought them just the same.

The lessons and demos are excellent and easily understood. I sketched most of the drawings and I am trying to restart watercolor after having followed lessons by other instructors, buying a lot of books to achieve little.

My first try was with Lake Garda which turned out very well but one of my sisters really liked it and just took off with it before I had the chance to take a picture and post it. I'll try one of the other paintings but I'll hide it before one my family members walks out with it (hide it) and post it.

Thank you again Bob

Grace from Villerot, Belgium.

Watercolor Secrets is wonderful and successful attempt to teach watercolor painting even to a layman.

I had been painting in acrylics and oils but watercolors were my weakness but after this course I feel confident and I know I can paint with ease.

I hope to get to see more of such courses by Bob soon.

Gunjan from India.

I have found Bob's instruction video's Watercolor Secrets informative not only for beginners but for serious artists like myself with tips and tricks.

They are so easy to follow and there is so much in them, taking you through step by step. They are great value for money and will have a total beginner painting in no time at all.

Good instructions are half the battle to learning. Bob Davis is most certainly a wonderful instructor taking great patience to go through every detail thinkable to make sure his students get the best from these videos.

Well done Bob!

Helen from Glasgow, Scotland.

I have found the Watercolor Secrets painting course great. I have only been painting a few months but I have learnt so much from Bob.

I have a long way to go but I know if I follow the lessons I can only get better. The techniques and tips from Bob are really helping me to improve.

Raelene from Malanda, Queensland, Australia.

I Love The Watercolor Course! I particularly liked learning how one can paint with only a few tubes of paint by practising how to mix them properly; that you can take whatever time you like and go over steps as you please; or even mix up the lessons as you go. Instructions are insightful and confidence building. Thanks Bob for a great course!

Wendy from Solvang, California, USA.

I love the presentation, Bob's easy to listen to voice, the clear instructions and the great results.

Anne from Albany, Australia.

Visitor PhotoFor years I've promised myself that someday I would learn to paint watercolors. Time passed, and then a tragic event occurred in my family which made me realize "someday is now."

Shortly thereafter, I learned about Watercolor Secrets and immediately ordered the course online. WOW! Has it ever changed my life. Bob is one of those rare people who can actually teach, motivate, and encourage people to paint successfully.

It's as though he is right beside me guiding me along the way. After only a few lessons, I realized I was beginning to look at a scene and actually interpret just how to go about painting it. And it works!

And that's not all - the forum Bob set up for those taking the course is one of the best parts. I now have friends all over the world who have the same goal.

We post our work (it really doesn't hurt a bit!), offer friendly advice, encouragement, a great deal of humor, and keep each other motivated and on track.

It works. It's perhaps the best present I've ever given myself!

In the art of painting, watercolours can be the most rewarding or the most frustrating. It is certainly the most unforgiving medium. Yet when properly executed, watercolour paintings radiate a translucent luminosity which is difficult if not impossible to achieve with other mediums.

I have spent good money on scores of books on watercolour painting but they are limited in teaching you the techniques as they can only show stages of the process. Learning through watching a video is the best next thing to having your private tutor.

Bob Davies is a gifted tutor and his 'Watercolour Secrets' DVD scores highly in teaching the techniques mainly because Bob explains the technique by showing you the whole process without any breaks, which is where other learning videos fail. Don't expect to turn into a Constable simply by watching the video. You must still put in lots of effort through practice and patience, but you'll be in a far better position in achieving your goals by having 'Watercolour Secrets' as reference material than by simply treading blindly on your own.

I highly recommend Bob Davies's 'Watercolour Secrets' DVD.

Charles from Malta.

I enjoyed this course hugely. It gave me the steps to start painting in watercolors immediately, and I could see progress as I worked though the lessons.

I have not become a master painter, but now that I can see what to do, I believe a lot more is achievable. Thanks tons.

Jim from Atlanta USA.

Visitor PhotoHi Bob, First a big Thank You my Watercolor Secrets DVD's arrived on 24th of Dec (my Christmas present to me!) It is all that you promised it to be and much more.

For anyone who would like to learn how to paint but don't know where to even begin, then I would certainly recommend Watercolour Secrets. I am very much the amateur when using watercolour and have found it to be inspirational to say the least, all the lessons are like having you there with me as I try all the different lessons and with plenty of encouragement to boot.

Thank's Bob for Watercolor Secrets, it is just fab and you present all of the lessons in such a way that you are sure to awaken the artist within.

Joyce from New Zealand.

I was about to give up watercolour paintng after acquiring lots and lots of books, videos, demo's etc but still needing that little bit extra to turn out a painting I was happy with.

Then I found Watercolour Secrets and I can honestly say that it has been the turning point for me.

Bob's enthusiasm and attention to detail has gone a long way to answering the questions that was never apparent in any other instruction that I had experienced.

Joan from Cambridgeshire, UK.

This has been a fantastic course and a real bargain. Hope to see more like this in other mediums in the future.

Alan from Lakeside, California, USA.

Watercolor Secrets is just what the doctor ordered!! I WAS a pencil doodler for years, afraid of color anything. Bob Davies's narrative led me to trust myself and go on to watercolor painting. Who knew I could draw a horse AND paint it!

John from Waldport, Oregon, USA.

Visitor PhotoAs a self taught painter I started working with oils, but as I like to paint on site it takes too long. So I started with water-colour but made many mistakes and took overly long in producing a picture.

Your course has been a godsend, with so many hints and tips to guide me. Also the price is excellent. I'm not a whizz on the computer either but found it was easy to download and save. I have told friends about your course.

So I am all set to thoroughly enjoy my painting in and out of doors. I live in a lovely rural setting so have many subjects to paint. Thank you so much.

Brenda from Brittany, France.

I had been attempting to paint watercolours for a few years before I started the Watercolour Secrets course. I really have found the course invaluable in teaching me the painting techniques I have always wanted to try.

Robert Davies has a natural ability to teach and is very encouraging in particular aspects of watercolour which are considered difficult. I found the lessons on painting trees and skies the best.

My painting has really improved and I am now even selling some of my work! I have discovered a new found enthusiasm for watercolours, thank you Bob!

Claire from Northern Ireland.

Visitor PhotoI began in earnest to do the lessons in the order they appear, each A.M. before I start my own art. Before that I sort of skipped the basic exercises ones and just did the paintings. (And on the 'I Draw and Paint' Painting community I have a group called Basic Exercises ....so I decided to follow my own advice).

On my page I've created a folder called 'Watercolor Secrets where I add what I've done , mostly because I'm pleased with what i've learned but also to get others in the Community curious about 'Watercolour secrets'.

I have no hesitation in saying that this course will make me able to draw better and use my favorite medium -watercolors - to the best of my ability.

Mary from Montreal, Canada.

I am a High School art teacher in Oklahoma and love to teach our watercolor unit. I will be using the lessons you teach (which takes a load off of me, although I am still interacting with the students) for the unit.

We have a camera that goes through a video projector but it is not in real time by a few seconds, and there is a glare on the water which makes it hard for the students to view. I purchased your lessons myself (not the school) for the techo to teach my students.

With both of these reasons I would recommend your course to any art teacher who teaches watercolor. Some schools do not have projectors and have to have the students gather around a central table, 26 or more students, to watch them demonstrate watercolor techniques. You can see the problem with that.

Thanks a bunch Bob for putting in the time and effort for this series. And I am looking forward to getting the DVD's when they come out.

Dan from Dewey, Oklahoma, USA.

Visitor PhotoAn extraordinary course for anyone interested in painting with watercolours. Any kind of art need of interest, pleasure doing it and some tecnique. Finding good and very simple advices it's really useful and gives big advantage in the ability of this kind of painting aviding many mistakes. I give a good testimonial of this "Watercolor Secrets" course.

Emilio from Rome, Italy.

I want to say a big Thank You for your wonderful website and the Watercolor Secrets DVD series.

I came across 'www.how-to-draw-and-paint.com' a while ago, and watched all free acrylic and w.c. painting videos, and was highly impressed by your friendly style -- like watching an old friend painting and talking in front of me - and of course by your skill and the amount of information presented. In fact, it revived my interest in art!

Since then I owned a few wc painting DVDs. I bought a copy of WC Secrets when it came out (without reading the 'claim' but I knew it's going to be good) -- the best, most comprehensive DVD on w.c. painting ever! It not only teaches you how (an essential part), but also encourages you to paint and enjoy making art.

N.L. from Connecticut, USA.

I have been doing watercolor painting for about 9 months now and was struggling considerably until I joined Watercolor Secrets.

The course is not only excellent value for money but so easy to follow and covers every element of landscape painting. Bob's friendly approach to teaching makes the course very enjoyable and the help, support and encouragement from other members is fantastic.

I am now producing paintings that I am proud to show off to friends and family and have certainly gained a lot more confidence. For anyone interested in watercolor painting, I cannot recommend this course highly enough.

Thank you Bob, I will be eternally grateful.

Liz(Cookie) from Scotland.

Visitor PhotoWatercolor Secrets is a fantastic course. I have loved all of Bob's videos and have been thrilled with the paintings he produces. His explanations, hints and resources are all excellent and have encouraged me to have a go.

As a complete novice I was astounded by the ease with which my paintings came to life. Bob's down-to-earth instructions have been so easy to follow and being able to stop and start the clips has made painting the pictures myself so enjoyable.

I have had compliments from friends and family alike about my paintings and I feel a sense of achievement with each completed painting.

Bob's style is very informal and chatty. It's just like having a friend teaching and encouraging you. I would have no hesitation in recommending Watercolor Secrets to anyone. There is so much valuable information packed into each video for either beginner or the more experienced artist.

Thank you Bob.

Sue from Manchester, UK.

Visitor PhotoI have been dabbling in watercolor for at least 20 years now. That is not taking into account the initial interest when I was twenty some. ( I am now 72!).

What I did discover was that my self learning stopped at a point and there was no marked progress, whatever the number of years I have spent on this medium.

Right last year came the website idrawandpaint.com and before that, Bob's wonderful monthly lessons " Starting Art". I was immediately hooked on to this internet learning.

My interaction with the idrawandpaint.com is a wholly rewarding experience and I have many helpful friends urging me on to paint and put them on the site. ( Did not imagine that I could do over 100 such paintings from April to December of 2008).

Then came the offer for Watercolor Secrets and I had no hesitation to register myself for the web content. ( Now it is also available in DVD's). With this material, my attitude has become surprisingly cautious.

Since I wish to do justice to the material contained in this elaborate art course, I am not putting up any of my effort till I reach a certain degree of professionalism in my artwork.

That is the influence and challenge the recent art course of Bob's has done to me!

Amby from India.

I love your lessons. I took a few night courses in watercolor painting at our local vocational high school.

The step by step instructions that you give far surpass what I have learned. I am still learning from you and look forward to painting now with a better understanding of how to go about putting ideas down on paper and following through with a finished painting.

Perhaps in the future I will be able to submit a finished painting from what I have learned from you. Thank you so much for the opportunity to paint with you.I love your lessons. I took a few night courses in watercolor painting at our local vocational high school.

Visitor PhotoI began watercolour painting 8 months ago having had no previous experience of this medium before. I was on the point of giving up when I discovered Watercolour Secrets.

This series starts at the beginning and guides you through each step towards a successful painting. I found Bobs lessons on drawing and perspective extremely informative as this is one area I needed a lot of help particularly when it came to horses or trees. I now do that with a good result.

The tutorials are delivered in a very friendly manner, simple, easy to follow and cover so many subjects that I cannot think of one that has been left out.

I joined Watercolour Secrets and later purchased the series on DVD because the information they contain will be invaluable for years to come. The support of other members on site is also very encouraging.

I have no hesitation in recommending this and wish to thank Bob Davies and his crew for putting together the Watercolour Secrets series. It has given me the inspiration I needed to learn, to work through my problem areas and have confidence in my ability.

Annie from New zealand.

I would recommend Watercolour Secrets to anyone who is contemplating taking up Watercolour painting or indeed like myself who has found the course excellent revision material having not painted for a number of years.

Bob is obviously an excellent teacher and his enthusiasm and humour make the course very enjoyable and informative. On a personal note I have always struggled with figures and animals but the way Bob demonstrates that part of the course makes it very easy to follow.

All I need to do now is practice more. Many thanks for an excellent course Bob.

Trevor from Cumbria, UK.

I have been painting with watercolour for about three years. The areas I have difficultly in are: painting rocks in water, waterfalls and waves, reflections, two stage skies and perspective.

Since finding your website and signing on for the Step-by-simple step video instructions I found that I can paint with Watercolour 'with confidence and consistency - regardless of so called natural ability'.

Learning about using the back of fingers to check if the paint has dried has solved the problem of cauliflowers and muddy effects. Also, the direction and size of reflections in water, distance and height of buildings, size and direction of shadows.

I found your instruction on perspective less complicated than art manuals. Using simple shapes has improved my drawing of people and animals and most importantly, how to put them in the correct position in a landscape to enhance the painting.

All in all, I find your method of instruction simple to follow that is why I also purchased your DVDs.

My family and friends are amazed and delighted with my progress (me too). Some of my friends insist I tell them about my watercolour secret.

Kay from NSW, Australia.

Visitor PhotoI am really enjoying the course in Watercolour Secrets. Bob's instructions are straight-forward, are very easy to follow, there are many good hints and my paintings have improved out of sight!

Bob is a very able teacher and has a great way of getting his message across. I find having someone showing me what to do of great benefit, far better than trying to follow instructions from the written page. Although I am a self taught painter I have struggled along the way so I have found the Course of great benefit.

I would recommend it to anyone starting out in watercolours and to all who paint in this great medium. Thanks Bob for so many great, easy to follow lessons.

Now, what shall I paint next?

Margaret from Cairns, Queensland, Australia.

I've been drawing and painting for 20 odd years, but I couldn't handle watercolours at all. So I went to a watercolour class - everyone there was so far in advance of me, I didn't learn very much, so I left.

Since having downloaded Bob's painting courses, I'm beginning to get there. I'm not good by any means but so much better than my last try at watercolours.

Skies and water reflections were my problem area's, but even they are getting better. All the video's are great, but I do like the tree ones best. I try to paint land and seascapes most of the time.

Thanks Bob, you've made watercolour painting an enjoyment for me.

Brian from Folkstone, UK.

I have been on the site almost daily in the past week and viewing all the wonderful paintings and reading your comments. I have not been painting much in the last couple of months because the time just wasn't there but my love for painting and watercolor is as alive as ever.

Isn't this the best course ever?. I will soon be posting some projects that I have started. When I first saw this course advertised I knew I had to have it. I had learned so much from Bob on the old site and still enjoy every issue of "Starting Art".

I have a lot of videos on different mediums of paints. Without a doubt we have found the best instructor in Bob Davies. It's true Bob. I absolutly love Watercolor Secrets.

I have played around with some skies and water puddles and reflections-and am really looking forward to trying "rocks under water".

Well--that's enough babbling from me. Just wanted you to know that you are all doing so well and they owe it all to you Bob. Looking forward to another series.

Opal from Ontario, Canada.

Visitor PhotoThis is a great course, even though I did not start at the beginning but picked topics at random, it has been of enormous benefit, just watching and following what Bob does works well.

Certainly the best course I have seen and it has helped me progress no end.

Thanks Bob.

Anthony from Leicester, UK.

Visitor PhotoThis course is wonderful. I paint pet portraits in watercolor. I started painting when I became disabled and took courses locally.

The convenience of this course - I can take my lessons at any time of day - is a blessing. The instructions are easy to follow and Bob is a delight to listen to and his insight into the artist mind is stimulating and very encouraging.

Thank you for developing this course.

Watercolor Secrets has inspired me to try watercolors that I have loved to watch others do but felt intimidated by, personally. Bob Davies has simplified things that make it a pleasure now.

I have been painting with acrylics a long time now and became interested in plein-air painting but felt held back because with acrylics and I'm sure oils to, there is just too much to haul around with all the tubes, mediums, etc.

The idea of being able to just take some water and palette of colors already in the wells, a small assortment of brushes and your ready makes painting more pleasurable when you can 'cut down on all the stuff'.

The best fun of all is learning from seeing and there are so many subjects to choose from here and so many helpful friendly people willing to give their time to help.

Betty from Athens, Alabama, USA.

Visitor PhotoAbsolutely fantastic watercolor course. I have not seen anything else that comes close to the amount of detail and explanation that Bob Davies Watercolor Secrets DVD's offer.

I especially enjoyed the lessons on figures and am thrilled to be able to now add them to my paintings. My confidence in my painting abilities has grown tremendously, although I have so much more to learn.

With all the support I receive from Bob's community site,'idrawandpaint.com' and the DVD's I am sure to reach all my artistic goals.

Again, thank you Bob for your love of art and devotion to encouraging artists of all levels around the world.

Suzanne from Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.

This is a brilliant course, nice to be able to download good quality videos and follow them at leisure!

Any possibilities of a similar course on drawing?

Sue from Hampshire, UK.

After trying various other lessons, I have found Bobs tutorials the easiest to follow with simple rules and explanations.

His confidence in the ability of people to master watercolour never fails to amaze and despite many failures, mine not his, I have found that my skills and techniques have improved dramatically, and I look forward to completing the series.

David from Chesterfield, UK.

I enjoy the course Watercolor Secrets and for the first time I succeeded in completing a watercolor painting (Lake Garda).

Simple words for the explanations, videos for a better understanding that's all what needs a beginner.

Thanks Bob! (I hope that my English is not too bad because I'm French)

Christine from France.

Watercolor Secrets is a terrific course! It includes everything that a beginning student would need to start painting immediately.... selecting brushes, paints, etc.

I like the fact that one begins with only a few colors and learns to mix colors appropriate for the lesson. I would highly recommend this for every person who wants to learn watercolor painting.

The website was easy to use with valuable templates. Bob is a terrific teacher - very inspirational. I started with the on-line version but upgraded to the DVD's when they became available.

Watercolor Secrets should be in the library of every school. Congratulations on an important contribution to the teaching of watercolor painting.

Sara from Lexington, Kentucky, USA.

Thank you and your team for making your Watercolour Secrets available. You have restored my faith in Art Teaching Courses.

I've been on several one and two day painting courses with some of the Uk's top Artists. Most follow the same format “Buy My Paints, My Brushes & My Books, My DVD's and you will become A Great Artist!!

Bob you never implied this, just the opposite, you made your courses freely available on line. By following your instruction you have showed me how to get the best results I've ever had - thank you. I find your easy no nonsense instructions just right for me.

The cost of Watercolour Secrets DVD's must be the bargain of the year.

Leslie from Birmingham, UK.

If only my art teacher had been as inspiring and informative as Bob (who almost seems to be a family friend!) My ninety year-old mother was glued to the computer when I first showed her the lessons on line, so I decided to order the DVD set for her Christmas present.

They arrived on time and since then she's been incommunicado, watching, learning and painting practically non-stop. We have both learned so much with Bob's tutorials which are both inspiring and pleasurable to watch. Thanks so much Bob!

Catherine from France.

Over the years I have tried painting with oils to various degrees of success (in my eyes!).

A year ago I decided to try watercolour painting. I did not expect it to be so hard. All the rules about the order of lights/darks, strength of mix etc. means that 'planning' the picture is a very important first step.

It makes oil painting seem a doddle. Needing help I bought a book or two and searched the net, which is how I came across 'how-to-draw-and-paint'. There were lots of useful items and articles that helped and I found Bob's videos extremely good.

When the Watercolour Secrets course became available I signed up and downloaded the complete set. I have picked my way through the lessons that cover the areas that I needed information about and have found them enjoyable and informative.

Bob's presentation and manner make the videos easy to watch and seeing his approach to building up pictures really helps me with my own efforts. Well done to all concerned for a worthwhile project.

Michael from Billericay, UK.

Visitor PhotoI LOVE these videos! They are so user friendly. I love how they teach principles of design and color composition. It isn't just a "watch me and copy" program, although I learned a lot by copying.

Bob TEACHES as he goes along, letting you into his brain so you can understand WHY you do those things and how to do them on your own in another setting.

At the end of this course you have more than just a stack of pictures that you copied. You have the skills and confidence to go out and paint what you want! I know this sounds a bit verbose, but I have spent my life watching my mother and siblings (all artists supported by their work) and until now have not been able to figure out how to make what I see match what what ends up on the page.

Bob talks through the paintings and composition where my family didn't, allowing me to learn how to paint on my own. He teaches the strengths and weaknesses of the medium, how to take advantage of the former, and avoid the latter.

He teaches the preparation and practice that go into a satisfying painting, and the exercises in the course develop the skills that that make painting easy and enjoyable. This is a first rate course at a cut rate price.

I feel like I have been taught by a friend -- Bob lets you peek into his life while he paints, giving these videos a real friendly edge. I can't say enough good things about these classes!

I have used them with my 3 oldest children ages 12-8 and my two little ones (ages 2 and 4) are entertained enough to watch. I am sure they are learning too, because there has been an influx of art production in my house in the last 2 months.

I even painted our Christmas cards this year, something I would have never had the skill or confidence to do. Thank you again and again!

Heidi from Upstate New York, USA.

I stumbled across some of your watercolor lessons on You Tube and was just "blown away" that someone would take the time to share their knowledge like that.

They were a huge help so I went looking for more. I found your How to Draw and Paint site and signed up for your newsletter too. They are both great sources of information.... and it let me know about the Starting Art series that you were just about to release. I spent my birthday money and signed up right away!!

I've had some classes in watercolor, some from the local college and some from a well known artist and I enjoyed them all. But, none broke it down into such simple, effective and helpful steps and your Starting Art series.

I am VERY grateful to you for putting this together and offering it to us all at such a reasonable price. I'm still as impressed with your generosity as I am the wonderful lessons.

Thank you so much for both.

Joann from Georgia, USA.

Visitor PhotoI am so happy that I have the Watercolor Secrets DVDs in my art library. I am new to watercolor and I live in a small town, where art lessons are just not available.

When I sit down with one of these wonderful lessons, I am able to learn from a teacher that pauses when I need a little extra time or just scoots right on through the material at a comfortable pace.

I just finished the Awkward Cat lesson and it's amazing how easy Bob Davies makes it. I can happily say that this is the most valuable tool in my studio.

Beth from Eufaula, Oklahoma, USA.

After dabbling with watercolours for about 5 years finding Watercolour Secrets has changed my life.It is exciting, stimulating and easy to follow and tremendous fun.

The subjects of lakes, waterfalls, blossom trees, and gorgeous landscapes are all the things I have always wanted to paint. Each lesson is a challenge and after only a couple of months I am thrilled with the results.

Bob is like a personal tutor who will repeat the lesson as many times as you want. I cannot thank him enough.

Julia from Luxembourg.

The Watercolor Secrets course is an excellent product offering. There is an incredible amount of great usable watercolor instruction which is fantastic for the watercolor artist. Simply a great product at a great price.

Bob delivered a painting course that exceeded my expectations. I am still amazed at what I received compared to the price of the course. His method of teaching is clear and very easy to follow. I have learned a great deal from this course and each time I view the material, I learn something new.

In addition to the on-line version of Watercolor Secrets, I have purchased the DVD set. I cannot express enough what a worthwhile investment this is. I have built up a pretty extensive library of watercolor books and this course surpasses any written instruction available.

I hope Bob continues offering addtional products (maybe an intermediate Watercolor Secrets series of courses?)

Bob from New Jersey, USA.

Visitor PhotoA wonderful site which has been instigated by a team who are dedicated to advancing the knowledge and ability of artists of all levels.

The tutorials are presented in a friendly and easy to follow manner by Bob. Everything you need to know about watercolours is right here, from the basics of choosing the right materials and equipment to the actual application of paint on paper.

A truly magnificent and well planned concept.

A big thank you from me.

Ted from Brisbane, Australia.

I am a 77 years old Amateur hobby painter (mostly acrylic) and always wanted to try my hand in Watercolor painting.

I had a go at it before, but your Watercolor Secrets opened my eyes to some techniques and secrets. Your teaching is simple and easy to understand. I enjoy it immensely and can easily recommend it to anybody.

Walter from Australia.

I've got so much from the videos. It is much easier watching how it is done than reading how it is done. Bob explains things in such a way that is so easy to understand and he makes you feel as if he is talking to you personally.

Even if you are not in the mood for painting, the videos make for great viewing. I think the Watercolour Secrets videos are the best thing available for watercolour painting.

Linda from Leeds UK.

I will never regret taking this course as it has helped me improve my landscapes 100 fold. I enjoy watching the videos and learning from Bob, who is a wonderful teacher. I hope that he makes more videos available in watercolor such as portraits and florals. Thanks Bob for your help, it has improved my painting very much.

Susan from Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA.

This course is awesome. I have purchased many DVDs on watercolour painting but found this to be the best. Bob keeps things simple and easy to understand. I shall go back to it again and again. Thanks Bob for all your hard work.

Tony from Barnsley, UK.

Visitor PhotoI have watched many DVD video tutorials in all types of art, but without doubt, in my opinion, the Watercolour Secrets art course is the most useful, informative and best course I have come across.

I like the easy way that Bob demonstrates his many skills and transfers them to the new and/or experienced watercolourist.

My favourite lesson is number 7. 'Stone Built' as I learned that you are never too old to see more ways to paint old and new stones in their various forms, colours and textures.

Many thanks for a wonderful art course Bob. I now view my own art in a new light.

If you are thinking of doing a course on Oils and or Acrylics, please count me in.

Ernest (Pop) from North East England.

Having first experienced Bob's easy going style and his wonderful way of getting things across when I started tuning into "I Draw and Paint", I had a fairly good idea about what to expect from "Watercolour Secrets" and I was not disappointed.

It is full of the same style and straightforward explanations at every stage covered. I have not completed the course yet, but if at this point I was asked what I expected to get out of the course, a one word answer would be "confidence".

Bob has taught me to "have a go" - the only things you have to lose is some paint and paper, but you can learn an awful lot. Many Thanks Bob.

Ray from Warrington, UK.

Visitor PhotoHi my name is Dave, and I would just like to thank Bob. His Watercolor Secrets has been a godsend for me! Over the years I have paid out some money on Watercolour books and magazines - ok, but something was missing - Personality!!

I got this with Bob - thanks. He explains all you need to know, you can slow him down, rewind him or go over and over again until you have it right (I can now paint water which looks like water).

I am not stagnant any more and want to paint more often and even my wife thinks my work looks better. Once again Bob thanks for your Watercolour Secrets. Secrets no more.

Dave from Ormskirk, UK.

Over the years I bought several taped and recorded painting lessons. Ultimately, they all became a disappointment of sorts.

It seemed that they were produced primarily to upstage this or that artist and lacked the emphasis on teaching basic methodologies and skills through which an aspiring artist can build up his own chest of fundaments and technics with which he can then sail his own seas and create his own compositions.

Your course on DVD, on the other hand, is exactly what I hoped it would be, having filled my needs in a way so much different and user-friendly than the previous all-too-disappointing experiences.

Raffi, Englewood, New Jersey, USA.

Visitor PhotoEverything you have ever wanted to know about painting in watercolour is here. Tutorials are clear with unobstructed viewing. Bob Davies presents each lesson in a relaxed, down to earth, step-by-step manner. Nothing is rushed and everything is explained in full detail. This really is the very best.

Adelaide from Adelaide, South Australia.

Visitor PhotoWatercolor Secrets is one of the most comprehensive programs I have had the good fortune to be involved with. It is all laid out precisely, and you get instructions that are clear and concise.

The way Bob Davies always teaches, well he makes it so easy and simplifies what to me had seemed huge obstacles, I now can achieve very easily. When the instructions are broken down and explained, it really makes sense. Bob true to form, gives us a program that, in my opinion is better than any instruction book I have ever bought.

An interesting point, since Bob's Watercolor Secrets came out, the other sites are innundated with programs like his. I doubt that any could match Watercolor Secrets.

Lamoine from Canada.

Visitor PhotoJust a line to say how helpful and informative Watercolor Secrets has been for me. At this stage in life I decided to go back to my first love..painting.

I registered in two Art Programmes and while learning all mediums, watercolor was the hardest for me. I just could not get my paintings looking like the ones in the text.... until now.

Your instructions are very clear and the presentation quite enjoyable. Thanks a million, your topics are wide and I feel very confident in painting in watercolors.

Sharon from Kingston, Jamaica.

If you've always wanted to try watercolor but were intimidated, this may be just want you are looking for. Bob tackles painting by teaching in small steps, such as learning different techniques for painting skies, trees, mountains, etc. before tackling something full-scale like a landscape painting.

By learning the bits and pieces individually you can feel confident moving on to a larger work. The videos are clear and you can pause, rewind, and re-watch as needed. Give it a try. Really, you have nothing to lose!

Wendy from San Jose, California, USA.

Watercolor Secrets is a wonderful and successful attempt to teach watercolor painting even to a layman. I had been painting in acrylics and oils but watercolors were my weakness but after this course I feel confident and I know I can paint with ease. I hope to get to see more of such courses by Bob soon.

Gunjan from India.

Visitor PhotoWatercolor Secrets has been and still is one of my best investments of 2008. I only started with watercolors in September and I've not looked back.

This course is so rich with information. It has given me the confidence to paint any subject. That's mostly down to the friendly way Bob presents these amazing tutorials. My favorite section so far has to be mountains and rocks.

This section has allowed me to paint realistic looking mountains without them looking flat. If I was asked tomorrow by someone if they should purchase Watercolor Secrets I would say to them you would be a fool not to.

Visitor PhotoGreat series of tutorials, easy to understand and great confidence builder.

Alan from London, England.

I was never a watercolor painter or any other kind of painter. I have never taken an art class in my life. Everything I know about art drawing and painting I have gotten from Bob's DVD's, and books from my local library.

To my surprise I actually have drawn and painted things that look like real art, not child-like scribblings.

James from Appleton, Wisconsin, USA.

Visitor PhotoBob Davies' Watercolor Secrets is the best help for the beginning watercolorist. Before I received the online lessons and DVDs I painted as if I was a 4 year old.

I am learning so much from these lessons I think after almost a year of trying to painting I am actually getting the hang of it and learning the basics. Bob is so easy to watch and learn from, he makes it all seem possible and easy.

My avatar is a large 18 x 24 inches painting that I did a week or two ago and think is my best work yet. Bob Davies is my super hero! I thank him everyday when I watch my DVDs as he and his lessons have given me such joy, pleasure and a sense of belonging to the community of IDraw&Paint.com.

SHY from Panama City Beach, Floriada, USA.

I am fairly new at watercolour. I have taken a few classes. I found your website and was very impressed with your style of teaching. You have a way of getting across to others a lot of information in which I am very grateful.

I have the Watercolour Secrets download which I refer to often. I have ordered the Watercolour Secrets DVD Course so I can have the DVD's with me if I choose to paint with my sister.

Thank you so much Bob!

Tracey from Canada.

As a devotee of Bob's free tutorials, I was delighted when he offered up this complete course. I am thoroughly enjoying every step I take and every improvement I make.

Huge kudo's to Bob, he has made a believer out of me, I am no longer a can't do!! (paint that is!!).... I am now a CAN DO!!!!!

Lily from New Zealand.

Visitor PhotoI have been dabbling with watercolour and drawing for a few years, but not seriously. I retired just over a year ago and since then have found the time to devote to painting.

I searched on line for some tutorials as I thought actually seeing someone paint would be preferable to just reading about it. I came across How to Draw and Paint and became engrossed in Bob's tutorials and the way he explained things.

When Water Colour Secrets was introduced I signed up immediately. These tutorials have been extremely useful. I can see an improvement in my work and I just enjoy following them, with the possible exception of trees!!, which I still find a problem. Additionally a number of people who joined at the same time now feel like friends.

We critique each other's work and learn from each other as well. Sometimes we all have the same problems. We are possibly not always a critical as we should be but I think we've been encouraging one another so far and perhaps this will come. I'm sure everyone sees improvement, its a fascinating journey.

A big THANK YOU to Bob and his team for putting this together. If you are reading this and wondering whether to join or not, DO IT, you won't be disappointed.

Jean from the UK.

Visitor PhotoI managed to get in a couple of days earlier than the opening day and boy was I "chuffed". I wandered around totally in my element knowing that I was one of literally only a handful of us that had spotted the back door way in. Cheeky of me - oh yes, but oh boy was it worth it!

The site was totally AWESOME and soooooo worth the money. In fact I would have paid double that if I had to it would have still been value for money.

Anyway, I started reading everything and looking at everything - and at that point there was still a couple of things to be finished but after leaving a message in the 'Coffee Shop', Phil got back to me to say that by the time it "officially" opened, everything would indeed be up and running.

I was extremely impressed with the quick response and I know that has continued even though there are a heck of a LOT more members now. I have also gone on to buy the DVDs so that I could now watch them wherever I am in the house and the best part of all of course is how much my painting has improved.

I was a total beginner and was turning out what can only be called rubbish but now even I am quite proud of what I have produced - not quite brave enough yet to show it. However if I continue to improve - and with this site and the DVDs I have absolutely no doubts about that - I will pluck up the courage if only to hopefully inspire others.

Jacqui from Reading, Berkshire, England.

Having taken up painting and drawing over the last four years, and having bought many books and many DVDs on the subject,my progress appeared to be very slow. Then I came across the 'How to Draw and Paint' site.

I made a purchase of the complete download of the course with the expert guidance of Bob Davies who I have to say has the most amazing gift of explaining and showing everything concerned with the subject.

My progress from the help of Bob and Phil has really made me feel very proud of my art work and very proud of what I can now do.

After having had a bad accident which limits my time of being able to be at my P.C, the course is now available on DVD and I'm able to get a lot more pleasure of watching this amazing chap guide me through step by step in the comfort of my living room.

Bob I can't thank you enough for the hours of pleasure and guidance I've had from you,and if ever there's a follow up I'll support you.

Phil from West Glamorgan, South Wales.

I am part way through the course and have seen my paintings and confidence grow with each video. I would recommend this course to anyone who wishes to start and/or improve the paintings you produce. What is more I have enjoyed the videos all by themselves and have watched each one several times.

Phil from Herefordshire, UK.

I would like to say a big thank you to Bob for Watercolour Secrets. My brother was brilliant at art, unfortunately I did not have his talent although I am a creative person. Watching Bob and following his instruction I am beginning to believe I can produce my own type of art. Still got lots to learn but the process is very enjoyable.

Keep your tutorials coming. My request for Christmas was a portable DVD player so that I can watch the lessons as long and as often as I want without tying up the computer or television.

From a satisfied and hopefully improving student.

Donna from Cheshire, England.

I think that Bob is "as easy as an old boot". He has no airs or graces, but strips everything down to the "do-able". All of the major areas of watercolour are covered, and most of those in a form where you can go back again and again for ideas, inspiration or simple revision.

The money paid was a good investment compared to a lot of other professional dvd/videos. What makes Watercolor Secrets special is that there is no presumption: you should know how to do that; no "secrets": "I've used a paler/darker/stronger green", without telling what colours were used to mix it in the first place.

Usually, there is no major gap where a painting is suddenly "filled in" without any indication as to how it was done.

Reservations: none really. My only gripe would be that there should have been more on how to draw/paint trees that don't grow in the Mohave desert or the Florida swamps.

Jim from France.

Visitor PhotoI liked the easy, straightforward approach which helped me understand that watercolour painting is FUN.

The different techniques were well and clearly demonstrated and meant I was able to start practising immediately.

I am NOT an Exhibition Class artist and do not expect to be but I AM now capable of putting my ideas on paper and eliciting positive comments, thanks to this excellent Teaching Course.

Thank You Bob

Denis from Beamsville, Ontario, Canada.

Visitor PhotoSince childhood I loved watercolour painting. However, due to the place where I am living I couldn't find a teacher to teach me painting. In the meantime I learnt to draw cartoons by taking up a correspondence course.

But the booklets are not sufficient to pursue the course properly. However, due to latest development of the Information Technology I found this web site and my search for a good teacher in watercolour painting stopped here.

The biggest advantage I found here is that one can repeatedly see the video clips and understand the techniques required for successful watercolour painting. The course content is elaborate and the teacher vividly describes each and every step required to complete a successful watercolour painting. The cost of the course is very competitive.

I am thankful to Bob Davies and his team.

Watercolour Secrets is a wonderful resource for a number of reasons.

The material is so well structured and accessible. The videos are grouped in 8 steps according to subject matter with each video within a step building on the previous one.

A single video breaks a task down so that the sequence is easy for the student to follow and achieve a good result at the end.

I am a relative beginner and although I am watching the videos sequentially in order to understand the whole process, I also go to the video dealing with a particular concept I need to help me with whatever I am attempting to paint at that time.

The website is well structured and the videos small enough to download without fuss even on the slow old Aussie broadband. They are also just the right length to maintain interest and leave the student wanting more.

I am sure I will be watching and learning for a long time to come. Thank you Bob.

Anne from Gerringong, New South wales, Australia.

Visitor PhotoSaying hello from Québec Canada. I bought your videos just before Christmas. I have been trying to paint in watercolor for a good 10 years now.

I can't tell you enough how you are helping me to improve. You know how self taught can experience frustration. You really have a gift to explain complicated stuff in such an easy way. I had heard many of the things you're teaching, but through your words I understood them !

I now enjoy painting so much more than before, because you made me understand that it's easier than I thought. Every time I doubt about something, you're there to help me out :0)

I'm just finishing a painting and thanks to your help I'm amazed at the results. It's still far from perfect but so much better than before. Took me less time, and had more fun doing it than ever before. Can't wait to finish it and start another one. I'll review all your lessons one by one until I have them right :0)

Thanks a bundle. Keep up the good work and by the way I do love that British accent ;0) All the best, from a French guy living in the cold !

P.S. I'm already using scrap paper at the office to draw figures.

Bernard from Quebec, Canada.

For a no-nonsense, affordable course 'Watercolour Secrets' is in a class of its own. No gobbledegook, no jargon; just practical advice and demonstrations. It warrants careful study for anyone interested in starting the medium or improving their skills base. It has helped me no end.

Roland from Hayward, UK.

Since signing up for your 'WATER COLOUR SECRETS, my painting (and many other aspects to do with art) have improved by leaps and bounds. It is by far, the most easy painting tuition that I have come across.

It is laid out from the first lesson to the last in the most easy to grasp way. It makes learning to paint in watercolours fun and easy to learn. Bob is a great teacher and he explains everything so that anyone can understand the lessons and enjoy them at the same time.

I think it's something to do with LIVERPOOL that makes what he tells you so absorbing. All I can add is - it's GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY and if you want to learn how to do watercolours - get it and judge for yourselves.

From a very satisfied customer.

Alan from Leicester, UK.

As a child I loved to paint. My father would look at the painting and tell me all the things which he believed were wrong with it.

He would change whatever I painted to his liking. The painting was no longer recognizeable as mine. It was his creation. I stopped painting.

When I came to this website I was filled with the desire to paint, again. I enjoy the lessons, and the tips Bob gives; such as the field case made from an extra VHS case. Splendid!

Bob, your ability as a teacher is par excellance! Thank you for developing this website. The watercolor lessons are beyond anything I could ever have hoped for. Thank you!

Joyce from Bay City, Michigan, USA.

Bob,I absolutely Love the course. So clear & simple. I have not had the time recently to paint,(my wife's death).

But I am moving to a new address soon, so when things settle down, I'll be into it. The course has encouraged me to continue (nearly gave up).

"Why didn't I think of that!" crops up quite often. Thanks.

Jim from Australia.

Visitor PhotoPictures done in watercolour have fascinated me for years, but my life was full of running a business etc.etc.! Once I retired, the idea of learning to paint was one of many things I wanted to try.

In 2004 I found a local artist who taught a few people in her hone, classes once a week for 10 weeks during our cold Canadian winters. My enthusiasm far outshone my talent, but I have kept it up every winter since and also attended a few all day workshops.

I found the Watercolour Secrets site on the computer and as soon as the course became available I signed up.

Marvellous, fascinating, and has also given me a whole new outlook on watercolours!! I love every bit of the whole course.I have done several of the lessons and have learned so many new ways to paint, the Gentle Giant turned out really well...he is a handsome dude!!

Now, I am still doing the lessons and also trying the new found methods on other pictures. Thank you so much for this wonderful series.

Glenda from nova Scotia, Canada.

I am a beginner in watercolour. The 'Watercolour Secrets' course is really a god-send to me. I find it non-threatening, the teachings by Bob are clear & encouraging.

I am going through the course very very slowly - one shaky step at a time. Hopefully one day I can produce a fairly recognizable painting. My difficulty is in mixing colours - I will continue to practice, practice and practice!

Thank you, Bob, for being such a good teacher and producing such good series.

Naomi from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Visitor PhotoI am totally impressed with the watercolour secrets. I am slowly going through each section and am learning so much. Being a total novice this course has been a real teacher explaining terms and more showing step by step each new description and idea, so I can get an good idea of what I should be doing instead of guessing.

I work all day and I coach swimming a few evenings a week, so I don't have lots of time during the week to paint but watch out the weekends. I still tend to hesitate and dither over end results, but at least I am now getting an idea and am really enjoying experimenting more as I find out what the different techniques actually mean and how to achieve them.

I have done the monochrome several times and then found myself side tracked into trying the same thing with photos I had taken in the hope of one day using them. Well my monochromes are not as great as yours but I did like the idea and ended up adding a bit of colour...

I can not thank you enough for showing us your talent and your ability to share your knowledge so well. I know that I will enjoy each and every moment spent painting with you as a guide.

Debbie from Hamilton, New Zealand.

Watercolour Secrets is wonderful, it is easy to use with clear instructions and the option of revisiting lessons as many times as you would like.

I also like the way Bob teaches. His manner is calm and he makes you believe that you can improve your art if you really want to.

Thankyou for Watercolour Secrets.

Sandra from London, UK.

I came across this course whilst surfing the web one night and decided to take up the offer. I'm glad I did! Not only have I enjoyed watching the step by step videos, but I rekindled an intrest lost so many years past.

Having retired early due to ill health I find the theraputic and enjoyable hours with my watercolour dreams a lifeline which no book, tv or film can give. So it's never too late to take brush in hand and drift off into a place were colours and brushes can breath life into your ideas and thoughts. Many Thanks

Stephen from North Wales, GB.

I have been painting for a few years, improving slowly in my opinion, but, right from the start Bob's videos have gone a long way to improving my techniques and, more to the point, his enthuasiastic commentries have made it all so much more interesting. It is as if I 'really' know him and have by my side.

Watercolour Secrets, to my mind, has been, and is, money and time well spent.

Thank you Bob and Company.

Malcolm from Essex, England.

As an absolute beginner, I had no idea, that watercolor would be the most challenging of all paint mediums! Bob's gift of teaching has made my experience much easier. I particularly enjoy his "happy little mistakes" because this helps me understand I don't have to have it "perfect." I was so excited when I received Bob's DVD teaching series because now I can learn without the Internet! Thank you, Bob, for not letting anything stop you from this dream of helping beginners like me!

Laura from Tennessee, USA.

I am 68 years old and have just decided to take up painting. I have never attemted it before because I had no idea where to begin and my drawing skills were non-existent. I did get some books and look at painting lessons on the Internet but they all assumed that you had some experience so I found them hard to follow. Your videos however start from the grass roots and are explained in simple easy terms. I have surprised myself in the way my drawing and painting have come on.

I still have a long way to go I dont know if this is my age or if i am a slow learner but my skills are slowly improving the point is that I am not getting disheartened.

I really am enjoying learning from your videos if not for them I would have packed it in long ago. I know with practice I can only get better.

I would recommend your course to anyone starting out because they are so informative and easy to follow

Brian from Leeds, UK.

I found the lessons on painting trees and skys the best. My painting has really improved and I am now even selling some of my work!

I have discovered a new found enthusiasm for watercolours, thank you Bob!

Claire.

Watercolor Secrets was the trigger to make me take up the brush again after a five year "sebatical". If you are a raw beginner, you are taken gently and gradually into the exciting world of watercolor. I found Bob's teaching style so comfortable, and the student is eased along gradually.

I found the Forums very stimulating and many techniques were swopped, pushing the student along even quicker. I can strongly recommend the course.

Peter from Andover, UK.

I would highly recommend the Watercolour Secrets Course to any one who has an interest in leisure painting.

I have been painting in Watercolour and Oils for a few years now and have found this course to be the most informative and enjoyable course I have come across.

I now have a comprehensive reference source I can turn to at any given time.

My heart-felt thanks to Bob Davies for all the help and inspiration he gives in the lessons - thank you.

Peter from Nottinghamshire, England.

Dear Bob,

I stumbled across some of your watercolor lessons on You Tube and was just "blown away" that someome would take the time to share their knowledge like that. They were a huge help so I went looking for more. I found your How to Draw and Paint site and signed up for your newsletter too.

They are both great sources of information... and it let me know about the Watercolor Secrets series that you were just about to release. I spent my birthday money and signed up right away!!

I've had some classes in watercolor, some from the local college and some from a well known artist and I enjoyed them all. But, none broke it down into such simple, effective and helpful steps and your series. I am VERY grateful to you for putting this together and offering it to us all at such a reasonable price. I'm still as impressed with your generousity as I am the wondeful lessons. Thank you so much for both.

Sincerely,

Joann from Georgia, USA.

I am 68 years of age - never taken a lesson in my life - couldn't draw a cat. Have always wanted to draw but thought this was for well-educated people.

I took lessons at a local art class with like-minded people and learn't quite a bit, but then discovered you and have recently sold 3 pictures for £200.

I started art class December last year. You teach in laymans terms. You are brilliant.

Thank you so much.

Diane from Coleshill, Birmingham, England.

I started painting watercolours in March last year. First attempts being pretty pathetic.

Then I discovered Bob Davies mini videos on line & that changed everything. Suddenly my daubs were recognisable.

Then Water Colour Secrets came on line & there has been no stopping me!! The clear, concise method of instruction has been unbelievably helpful; you are made to believe that there's no reason why YOU can't do it.

Sue from North Devon, England

I was delighted to discover your website in September 2008. Absolutly perfect for me; practical, so well presented and covers so many topics.

I subscribed to the video course and then bought the DVD set. I watch a lesson every day and enjoy it so much. I am hooked on sketching and apply your techniques.

Finally I feel I am making real progress with my painting thanks to your excellent approach to teaching.

Many thanks Bob.

Joe from Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

Dear Bob, I want you to know that I am very, very happy with your beautiful watercolour course! I really am more passionate in enjoying my painting time!

I like the simplicity, and the clarity of the course and the way you are presenting it, and I have to confess, that it feels like I have got a new dear friend overseas! Thanks very, very much!!

Desiree from the Netherlands.

Visitor PhotoIt is my pleasure to thank Bob Davies for this wonderful website, it has been a wonderful experience for me to be able to pursue my love of watercolor painting.

With the websites of How to Draw & Paint combined with the painting website of Watercolor Secrets.net, it has made my final projects more appealing. Thank you, Bob.

And now that you have them out on DVD, I can take them wherever I am with my portable DVD player. Everyone should tap into these websites, fantastic.

Eizabeth from Kippens, Newfoundland.

I have used these dvd's of the watercolour secrets course for a few weeks now & I have found them very useful indeed once I had looked at all of the discs.

There is so much help at your fingertips you won't need to look anywhere else for help. I also think it is a bargain at the price (have you seen what they are asking for other dvd art courses) ?

Stanley from Halifax, Yorkshire, UK.

If you are serious about learning to paint using watercolors then I highly recommend using this course. I have been using it since it first became available and have found it to be well thought out, professionally produced, and covers a lot of material.

Bob, the host and instructor of the course, fills both of these positions with his friendly, charming and entertaining personality. Sit back and enjoy the journey!

Joe from East Quogue, NY. USA

Within 2 months of subscribing to Watercolor Secrets my wife has framed and hung 3 of my paintings in our home.

This course is easier and more informative than the countless number of Watercolor Instructional books that I have read. The tutorials are excellent. The feedback and communication with other members is fun and encouraging.

I believe Bob is a true "Artist" as he has priced the course so that anyone can afford it. Thanks Bob.

Vaughan from Florida, USA.

Hi, my name is Shahar and I started painting about a year ago when I stumbled into " How to draw and paint..." while cruising the net. Since then I have been painting whenever I had free time on my hands.

I found watercolors to be my favorite medium and when "Watercolors secrets" was available I was happy for the opportunity to learn and improve. Watercolors Secrets is a wonderful and valuable source of information and indeed makes one feel that even the most difficult pictures to paint are but a brush stroke away if you just follow some basic instructions.

Shahar from Tel Aviv, Israel.

Helo Bob, It's a real pleasur to watch your video cours. I find them very clear and very rich with information. The subjects are not too comlicated and the level is progresively going up which is also interesting.

I'm sorry for my English but i belive I am not the only non speaking english studant you have so you will understand.

Thank you very much for this exelent video.

Mira from Fribourg, Switzerland.

Watercolour secrets has renewed my interest in painting. It had become a chore, but now my enthusiasm has returned - probably because your method of teaching has led to successful paintings. Many thanks.

Bev from Lancahire, UK.

I have been painting seriously for the past two year now and I discovered "Watercolor Secrets" at a very reasonable price.

I am taking personal lesson in watercolor twice a month, but I felt I could learn even more if I applied for "Watercolor Secrets". I am thankful for my decision, as I have learned more about perspective, colors, wet-on-wet, drawing by using shapes to make it easier to draw figures or buildings or animals.

It was also very nice to learn how to put people into a painting without much work or detail and leaving the rest to the viewers imitation.

I have learned so much in such a short period, which helps me to understand what my art teacher is teaching. So for me it is a win, win situation. I recommend these lessons to not only beginners, but to artists that have been painting for quite some time.

I believe that artist should never stop learning and should be open to all aspects of the art. Then you can find your own niche and your own style.

I have covered only a small part of what I have learned through the "Watercolor Secrets" lessons. It is truly worth every cent. The best part, is that I can view each lesson for as many times as I feel the need to use them.

The more I paint, the better I get. The more lessons I use in "Watercolor Secrets", the better I paint' and the better I understand watercolors and all it can do. To me watercolor is an exciting medium to use, "Watercolor Secrets" brings out that excitement in it's lessons.

Marty from Onancock, Virginia, USA.

I would like to say how much I am enjoying Watercolour Secrets. I have been painting in Watercolour for quite a number of years and have studied many books on the subject of landscape painting. However, I have found your course very enlightening and so easy to follow and, more importantly for me vey inspirational.

A friend and I help to run an art group of around twenty members who paint mainly in watercolours and your course has been invaluable in helping us to advise and answer the many questions our members raise. Thank you Bob.

Joy from the UK.

Hi,Bob, as I wrote one day to you already, the day I saw the first of the video tutorials on You Tube sort of changed my life. I have been painting and drawing for many years, mostly soft pastel portraits.

Only 2 years ago I started to take a closer look at watercolours. It was a lot of struggling with paper qualities, brushes, names of colours etc etc, not to forget the various techniques.

I found a number of tutorials these last months but I must say that I like your Watercolour Secrets best, most probably due to your "very special" style of giving all these informations without being too professorlike. Have been watching (and enjoying) Watercolour Secrets online since it started but could not practise as much as I would have wanted (and needed !) these three months, let alone chat, comment or upload a painting. Sorry!

Only now since I received the DVD course - during Xmas holidays - I had the opportunity to try out a little bit more and can only say: It's great!

I was especially interested how to paint different kinds of water, so I find this lesson extremely helpful. the mountain lesson is very interesting, too, - as is every single one of them.

Well - this is something between one sentence and the next bestseller-novel and it took me a little bit more than a minute or two - but, Bob, you're worth it. thank you!

Marita from Dusseldorf, Germany.

Really pleased with the quality and content of the Watercolour Secrets Instruction Course. Am working my way through them, slowly because of work and family commitments, but am enjoying them immensely and it's so nice to have them to hand to refer to as and when I need them. Great value for money.

Margaret from south Wales, UK.

Oh My! I love this DVD and so does my 16 year old grandson. It is well organized and the right pace for us. It has the kind of detail I have been looking for.

Bob answers my questions as we go along. How much water do I use? How are you mixing the colors? What are the steps and in what order? etc.

Bob makes me really believe I don't have to be a master artist to learn how to watercolor and enjoy it. We put the DVD up on the big screen T.V. for our first viewing and it was fantastic.

It does me no good to watch an artist speed paint through his picture with little explanation and skipping half of the steps.

We are looking forward to more!

Catlyn & Devon, California, USA.

I am very grateful to you Bob for sharing your knowledge by means of the "Watercolour Secrets" videos.

The course is very aptly named. I have read many watercolour books and watched videos but your course has revealed a host of new tips.

Your teaching style is excellent. The videos are presented in a logical order with easy access to each subject and progressing from simple to more difficult. Your enthusiasm and clear demonstrations give the painter confidence to continue.

In the past I have had over twenty five colours in my palette and have become confused about which colours to use. I am now using the palette you recommend and am amazed at how many combinations can be produced. Your limited palette is a very good way to learn the properties of those colours.

I have followed many of the lessons step by step but had great pleasure in using my own photo of a mountain scene for the misty mountain exercise whilst following your instructions, thus creating my original work.

Your course is a valuable resource for those starting watercolour painting and for those who are more experienced and requiring greater knowledge and possibly a different approach.

Jill from Australia.

I haven't really done any exercises as yet but I've looked at all the video's and I can tell that that they are very helpful and informative. Well worth the money.

Harry from England.

Visitor PhotoThe course has surely helped me a great deal with my drawings. For example drawing a face I always seem to get features wrong resulting in a lot of rubbing out with the end product never looking like the animal or person I was drawing, more like doodle gone wrong.

Still can't draw vehicles but gradually getting there. I now understand there's more to just picking up a pencil or paint brush to achieve good results. As I say my drawing has improved by taking note of 'how to' and not thinking about perspective, vanishing points and that everything has a certain shape from which you can build up the final image.

The 'grid' is a good idea and apparently was considered a 'trade secret' with some of the old masters. Best is anything you're not sure of you have it at your finger tips to go back and look. A very informative course.

Please note: I take no responsibility for frightening persons who look at my photo!. 68 and doesn't time fly when you're having fun!

Robert from worthing, UK.

These links and courses have made a big difference between painting and giving up. The lessons are easy to follow and the explanations take the mystery away and inspire confidence.

Joy from Bristish columbia, Canada.

Fifteen months ago I signed up for a watercolor class at the senior center in my neighborhood. I did it because I had retired and had moved to a whole new area of Florida and thought this would be a good way to meet people.

I had not painted before this class so I didn't know what I was actually getting into, but I did meet people and I now have an extended family of artists who help me in my attempts at painting. I decided to go on-line to see what I could find on watercolor painting and discovered Mr. Davies's Paint and Draw website.

He was easy to watch and made it easier for me to understand the actual process of putting paint on paper without having to do it always using the wet-on-wet process. He made watercolor fun.

My paintings got better from his lessons. Now I also paint in oils and acrylics, have joined an art league, and am having lots of fun painting.

When Mr. Davies offered his lessons on DVDs I jumped at the chance to order them. I took my DVD player out to my studio and I play them and practice painting while watching him. I feel that his lessons have certainly made me a better painter than I was before I found his website and am very grateful that he is there to teach me.

Jimmy from San Mateo, Floriad, USA.

I purchased Watercolour Secrets and started practising the techniques for skies and trees. The next day, I looked at the dried paintings and could not believe my eyes. After years of attempts, this was the best I had ever done.

It looked like something a professional artist had painted. You will not find a better course at any price.

Ricky from Burleson, Texas, USA

I first watched Watercolor Secrets online then purchased the actual DVD's and am watching them a second time. I am amazed how easy Bob makes his paintings and I am using these techniques in my own paintings and it has definitely made a nice difference in my work.

I love watching Bob also as he is a funny and delightful artist. Thank you for this opportunity Bob and to the whole crew who made these lessons available!

Pamela from Howell, Michigan, USA.

Visitor Photo I have just finished watching the 4th DVD of Watercolour Secrets and I am so excited! As I am new to watercolours, these DVDs have given me an insight into technique and know-how that I am certain will be just what I need to improve my paintings.

Up to now I have been "putting colour on paper". Now, I believe I am learning "how to paint with watercolour". I have attempted a few tutorials, I believe successfully, with Bob's able assistance, and cannot wait to continue with the rest of the DVDs.

I am trying to be patient and learn the basics first, which has always been my mantra. However, now I can go back to the appropriate disk and practice the things I need in order to produce a perfect watercolour painting.

Bob is the ideal instructor. His gentle, down-to-earth and humorous delivery makes it easy to understand and follow what he is trying to tell me. He explains things clearly and does not assume that I know all there is to know about this medium. He also makes me believe I can succeed.

I am thoroughly enjoying the DVD series and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to produce great watercolour paintings.

L. Chiasson from Canada.

Visitor PhotoI painted with watercolors years ago, but lacked confidence. I have really enjoyed Bob Davies Watercolor Secrets. I have learned how to start a painting with confidence. It is helpful to know the materials and exact colors that are used in each painting lesson.

Once I get started, I find it easier to keep going. Everything is explained and demonstrated simply. I am only part way through the course, and look forward to the other lessons. I bought the DVDs for future references also.

Hannah from New Hampshire, USA.

Visitor PhotoI bought Watercolour Secrets because I am disabled and find it very hard to get to classes - also I liked Bob's easy going manner in delivering the sections.

I have found the Course to be full of good useful tips that I can use any time, anywhere. The course covers everything and is so easily explained. I feel that I will be painting good watercolours before long. Thank you Bob.

Andrew from Fife, Scotland.

'Watercolour Secrets' for me is not just an excellent course, but most likely the best I've seen, (I bought it twice). It takes you 'step by step' literally. Because it shows anyone no matter the level that they CAN do it too.

I can follow the instructions and produce work that I wondered how to do; like rocks, puddles...

Pauline from London, England.

I've tried several art tuition videos, both on-line and on DVDs. Without doubt Bob Davies' videos have been by far the most enjoyable and beneficial to me. His ability as an artist is self-evident from the excellent quality of his work.

What is perhaps less obvious is how good a teacher he is. Having been a teacher myself for many years (not of art, which is why I need the lessons!) I know what I'm looking for in a good teacher. Bob has all the right qualities - an ability to break his subject down into small, easy steps, to explain everything clearly and to do this with enthusiasm, good humour and in a relaxed, easy manner (he seems to be a natural in front of the camera!).

I have no hesitation in recommending Bob's courses to anyone interested in improving their drawing and painting.

John from Enfield, UK.

I wanted to paint for a long time but never got around to it. I saw Bob's course and joined, with his help and the encouragement of the others on the course I am painting.

Bob's course is easy to follow and is all you need to start producing good paintings. I would recommend the course to everyone.

Lance from the United Kingdom.

I find the lessons very easy to follow. I have learned a lot from watching your DVD's. I find myself going back time and time again watching certain parts.

The price for the course was more than reasonable. I have no regrets on purchasing the online course and the DVD's. I haven't had the time to try some of your lessons but plan to real soon.

I thank you for such great lessons and all the hard work you put into them.

Kirk from St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, USA.

Visitor PhotoMy "lifeline", my private teacher who is always available! I love my new DVD set. It has certainly helped me with techniques, timing, methods of achieving a desired effect.

I absolutely love to paint, but sometimes I get discouraged or unmotivated. This DVD set has inspired me to keep painting, and I already see some real improvement. Nothing thrills me more than stepping back and looking at a painting that I did, and saying "not bad!".

Your gift of teaching is truly wonderful. I do feel that nothing is impossible. You are very encouraging and approach each topic with a simplified yet truly effective style of instruction.

A great value when you consider the cost of a "private lesson!". When I paint, I feel like I have come "home". Thank you for feeding my soul and my spirit!

Patricia from Stratham, New Hampshire.

The Watercolor Secrets Course has given me some fine impulses. I would surely recommend it to any beginner in watercolours! It is fun and it is effective.

Lorenz from Germany.

Hi Bob, It's a pleasure to pass comments on your course.

Without doubt the best complete watercolour course I have come across. Well explained and visually a pleasure to watch. It will always be at my side ready to delve into for any problems encountered. Keep up the good work. Nice one Bob.

Brian from Lincolnshire, England.

Visitor PhotoI've tried almost all kind of painting mediums, from pastel to acrylic but have always stayed away from watercolor since I found it too difficult to control.

But 'Watercolor Secrets' has shown me the right and easy way (with practice) to paint with this remarkable medium. Although I'm not finished with the course yet, I have found all lessons to be so useful and easy to follow.

I would like to thank Bob and Phil for this truly amazing course. Just another happy painter.

Albert from Ottawa, Canada.

I am a French Canadian (bilingual) from Quebec City who waited excitedly to be among the first to buy Bob Davies very affordable Watercolor Secrets course. I will never regret my choice.

This course is wonderful and Bob's instructions are easy to follow and cover a lot of territory for a beginning artist such as myself. His delightful manner and sense of humour I consider an added bonus.

It is wonderful to own this course and now, thanks to Bob's generosity, I have discovered a new talent and a wonderful pastime which will last a life time.

"Merci beaucoup Bob!"

Lisette from Quebec, Canada.

I'm not yet a professional watercolor artist, but I have found the Watercolor Secrets program invaluable as I strive to increase my painting prowess. The way the program is divided into workable segments makes it ideal for anyone who is not able to devote large chunks of time to painting.

When I have only a half hour available, I can still log on to the Watercolor Secrets website and quickly view and try a technique. The segments often build on each other, and can be repeated as often as desired. I have taken several watercolor workshops, but this program helps me more than most.

Krayler from Keizen, Oregon, USA.

Over the years I have taken many art classes and workshops and have had a variety of teachers. What a pleasure to sit in my studio (temperature outside -22c at the moment) and enjoy a Bob Davies tutorial. I never fail to learn something new and valuable. Bob's tutorials are very easy to watch and the instruction is explicit. He makes it all look so easy. Thank you Bob.

Leslie from Renfrew, Ontario, Canada.

Visitor PhotoI've been painting over 40 years and I remember when I first started water colour painting I naively thought that you just sloshed paint on with wonderful results.

I soon learned that there are techniques involved in producing a good water colour painting, so I read and searched....took useless, expensive courses with limited information. What I needed was concise instruction and information I could access any time at home.

Well...finally I found it! "Watercolour Secrets" which covers absolutely everything you need to know right at your fingertips. All sorts of hints and tips.

Bob presents the lessons in a pleasant, reassuring, easy to listen way, on excellent quality DVDs.

Ever tried to draw a horse? He makes it easy using shapes. Perspective confuse you? Not any more.

I am delighted with my Watercolour Secrets course and recommend it with pleasure.

Georgina from Ontario, Canada.

Hi Bob, I simply must tell you how much I am enjoying your marvellous course. Watercolour painting was my first love, in my youth I painted on a regular basis in Watercolour.

At the time BB(before Bob) I found it very limiting - I moved onto acrylics, oils, mixed media, you name it. I experimented with all mediums. I went to Art Collage and received an Hons B.A in Fine Art at the tender age of 62.

Since then I have been teaching and loving it. I came across your method by accident on Youtube - I only wish I had come across it earlier, your friendly natural way of teaching is so enticing.

I would recommend this course to people of all stages in painting, I have learned so much from you Bob. Thank you so much for giving me back "my first love".

Philomena from Ireland.

I first "met" Bob on You Tube and was instantly fascinated by his way of explaining things and showing it in a way that made me think: I want to learn that!

Then I found WaterColor Secrets the on-line course and I loved it! I will never be Rembrandt or van Gogh (or Bob for that matter) but I bet I'm having more pleasure than I ever thought possible!

I've made loads of new cyber-friends to boot and now I have the course on DVD I can play them everywhere......Even on my big screen T.V.! But most of all my skills ARE improving and I'm so proud when someone compliments me for it,because actually that's a compliment to Bob! I would say to anyone: Just try it....You'll never look at things the same again or have a dull moment!

Joan from The Hague, Netherlands.

I have downloaded all your wonderful lessons but to date have been unable to put them to use, been in Hospital getting a new knee etc. I have every intention of trying to master the art of watercolour painting as its been something I have ever felt comfortable with when trying on previous occasions but your Watercolour Secrets Course has totally inspired me.

I have used oils and pastels in the past but declare nothing done in the past few years.

I admire your wonderful enthusiasm you put into your lessons so thank you again for putting a bit of a spark back into life with all this daily doom and gloom we live in.

Sue from Dublin, Ireland.

Having taken up painting and drawing over the last four years, and having bought many books and many DVDs on the subject,my progress appeared to be very slow. Then I came across the 'How to Draw and Paint' site.

I made a purchase of the complete download of the course with the expert guidance of Bob Davies who I have to say has the most amazing gift of explaining and showing every thing concerned with the subject.

My progress from the help of Bob and Phil has really made me feel very proud of my artwork and very proud of what I can now do.

Love Watercolour Secrets, its format is easy to follow and Bob offers a wealth of information and inspiration to have a go...

I am somewhat of a beginner in watercolour and would recommend it to others starting out as well as those more advanced.

Dianna from Sydney, Australia.

As a novice watercolorist, I greatly appreciated actually watching someone paint. It's one thing to read or to hear explanations of how to do various things with watercolor, but quite another to actually see someone work. It has made all the difference in both my enthusiasm and my results.

christie from Wyoming, USA.

Visitor PhotoI would like to say that this course is invaluable to anyone who yearns to paint but does not know where to start.

Although I go to a weekly painting group, I struggle but with these marvellous dvd's, I can now sit at home and watch each lesson whenever I want. I can now do a sky without panicking, and a winter and summer tree are definitely on the agenda.

Just can't wait to have a go at the Matterhorn, I could go on and on ...... Thank you Bob for presenting easy to watch lessons. I just hope that one day, my paintings will look something like yours.

From a happy beginner!

Visitor PhotoI started trying to paint with watercolor in May of 2008, I bought books, videos, attended expensive weekend workshops and seminars... far and away the best thing I ever did was purchase Watercolor Secrets by Bob Davies in October of 2008.

His lessons have improved my paintings by leaps and bounds... I'm about half way thru the course and continue to be amazed at the paintings I'm doing now thanks to Bob. I believe anyone can learn to paint using Bob's lessons, you just have to watch them and give the lessons a 'go'.

Elaine from charleston, South Carolina, USA

I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Watercolour Secrets lessons. I had tried several local classes but not received the level of support I needed (I am a complete beginner).

Not only is it pitched at a good level for me, it's the 'give it a go' encouragement that Bob provides which has inspired me to do just that. I can also see that as my skill's improve I will still find bits of the course to dip into to help, encourage and inspire. Long may it continue! Thanks Bob.

Joan from Leeds, England.

Visitor PhotoI subscribed to Watercolour Secrets when it was first launched. I was so impressed I could not wait to get a copy of the DVDs as well.

I have found that the subject matter covers so many topics that I have wanted to know about. The format is easy to follow in nice short bursts. I am very pleased with the 'lessons' and have already improved my style and developed skills in painting buildings, people and animals, particularly.

Sue from Rochdale, England.

(Broadly translated into English).... Hello Bob, I followed with much interest the watercolour videos. I learned much about things which posed large problems to me. I understood well because the images are sufficiently explicit.

Thank you, it is a true happiness to be able to follow your teaching.

Françoise from Guadeloupe

I was so impressed by the Watercolour Secrets course on-line that I decided to buy the CDs so that I can refer to them whenever I get stuck with something. This has been a fantastic investment. There is so much help on any problem you might come across. The course puts things in simple everyday language so that even the absolute beginner is able to understand what to do.

I have found it invaluable and I would personally like to thank Robert for sharing his knowledge with everyone, also his son for putting the site and CDs together. Thank you both so much!

Francis from Shropshire, England.

The Watercolour Secrets is a well constructed and excellent course for watercolour painters, who are struggling with the basics.

In Step 1 to Step Step 8 Bob covers the essentials of skies, mountains, rocks, perspective, buildings, boats water and people.

He explains the pitfalls and how they can be avoided. The tutorial videos are easy to understand, and the variety of topics explained exceptionally well.

I find the Watercolour Secrets course concise and one of the best on the market.

Why? Because it is a simply and systematically constructed course whereas most of the other tutorials seem to touch on bits and pieces, keep "secrets" to themselves, hold back information and certainly do not offer such a fully comprehensive course.

Alena from Sydney, Australia.

Visitor PhotoI am very happy to write a testomonial for you about my experience of Watercolour Secrets.

I am a bit slow to respond to you as it is summer here in Australia and I spend a lot of time out and about.

I spent the weekend driving through the Yarra Valley which is close-by,looking at at the vineyards covered in row upon neat row of beautiful ,green grape vines and then up into the Yarra Ranges to the 'Black Spur',an area that has Mountain Ash soaring more that 80 metres and glorious tree ferns which can be as high as a house. All that and I live only 4k from the bay; so much to paint!

I have multiple sclerosis (and cancer for good measure)and as the temperature is expected to exceed 40°c for the next couple of days,I shall be staying inside with the air-conditioning on as soon at it hits 35° as my nervous system goes into meltdown in extreme heat. (Not a pretty sight:)) I must admit that I had laugh when you brought out the hair-dryer to speed up the drying of your painting.I had to buy some glycerine to slow mine down!

I cannot express enough how absolutely delighted I am with Watercolour Secrets. The series runs through in logical steps and is presented in a very engaging and friendly manner. As someone who is picking a brush up after 40 years, I am not daunted by it because it is motivational and not patronising or judgemental.

I find it very theraputic watching the DVD's and then painting.I am neither conscious of time nor physical discomfort, only the joy that painting is bringing to me. A joy that I may never have found without Watercolour Secrets.

Thankyou.

Maggie from Melbourne, Australia.

I would like to thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge with Watercolor Secrets. I have been painting with watercolors for about 30yrs. I found so many helpful and creative tips in your teachings that I felt recharged and ready to paint with a new creative freedom. Thanks again for sharing all your secrets.

Pat from Gap, Pennsylvania, USA.

Visitor PhotoI am tickled to death. I have a degree in Art but I've never done Watercolors. Wow!! Your instruction is personable and the information you share in a relaxed, "no big deal", manner has made me into an avid watercolor artist. Thanks and keep up the good work. What's next?

Maury from Tucson, Arizona, USA.

Visitor PhotoThis is by far the very best course on watercolours that I have found. No matter how many classes you have or have not taken, this course is well worth the money! When I was in University (many years ago) my instructor and I sweated 'blood and tears' trying to get perspective into my thick head and clumsy pencil hands. A few minutes watching the videos and it clicks! So many wonderful hints and tips. I just can't praise this product enough. Thank you so much for Watercolour Secrets!!!

Maureen from Ontario, Canada.

I have enjoyed the techniques that I have learned on your site and like the daily tips that you give. Just little titbits of information on watercoloring to make it more enjoyable is such a plus. Learning time saver experiences from others really helps our own process in watercolors.

Peggy from Nevada, USA.

I found this site a few months ago and purchased the online course. Best money that I've ever spent on art lessons. Bob's fun to watch and explains things in a simple straightforward manner. I have already told my friends about this website and will keep on spreading the news.

Barbara from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Visitor PhotoHi Bob. I want to thank you for all your time and effort you have spent in putting these DVD's togethe. I haven't watched them all yet, but the ones I have watched, I have learnt a lot from. You have explained everything in great detail and in a language that even a novice like me can understand.

I would recommend these to anyone that is thinking of trying watercolor for the first time (just like me).

Denise from Umina, New South Wales, Australia.

I am enjoying this site enormously. How many books have I bought, hoping to learn to master the techniques of Watercolour painting? At last a teacher who gets down to brass tacks and shows, literally, how to do it when aiming for depictions of trees, buildings, water etc...

Thank you. I hope one day to upload a picture of mine done using your guidance.

Arthur from Stoke on Trent, England.

Visitor PhotoI am about halfway through the course now and have found it thoroughly rewarding. So far, I can say that it has encouraged a much bolder and less timid painting style.

I am using stronger colours, giving a fresher, less overworked result than before. In short, I have found the course simply explained and demonstrated and I look forward each time to the next step! It is the next best thing to personal tuition, I think.

Michael from Ashtead, Surrey, England.

I have copied Watercolor Secrets to cd's and it has been a great tool for me. I can reverse it as many times as it takes for me to understand what you are trying so desperately to get through to me and others taking the course.

It's very nice to be able to learn at whatever pace I choose. Your coverage of watercolor painting techniques is excellent. I'm about one third of the way through the lessons and looking forward to completing the rest of the course. Thank you for your positive "can do" attitude throughout the course.

Stan from Oklahoma, USA.

First I would like to thank Bob Davies for his time and efforts in putting together such a great series for us "beginners". For years I have dabbled in different types of painting techniques (always self taught) from acrylics to faux painting (murals) to water-color painting all done on any surface that would be still long enough for me to paint on!

Until I watched the dvd series Bob put together, I really didn't have the confidence to attempt a "painting" of any sort from a completely blank canvas (having painted "coloring book" style previously by tracing the image first and then filling in the shapes.

Bob makes it all seem so simple by the manner in which he teaches each step. He is very insightful and encouraging as an instructor and I am so glad I "stumbled" upon his website which I immediately became a member of and have made so many wonderful friends! Thank you for that too Bob!

The Water Color Secrets DVD collection has re-inspired me to break out my paints and brushes and enjoy some quality time creating! It is a must to have in your DVD collection!

Thank you Bob for re-inspiring me!

Donna from Hazel Green, Alabama, USA.

Visitor PhotoI just started Watercolor painting a few months ago. Actually it was Bob's tutorials that got me started using this medium. Watercolor Secrets is a God Send to me, I refer to them all the time, I have not yet had a chance to do all the tutorials but I have watched each and every one of them. I found them to be wonderful tools very helpful, not to mention all the tips and instruction they provide on paints, brushes, technique.

Bob Davies has such a down to earth and easy going approach to his teaching, that I find them enjoyable to watch. Watercolor is a very tough medium for me, but I know in time if I keep using the Watercolor Secrets Tutorials I will improve.

Thank you Bob for getting me back into my art and providing these wonderful tools to help me along my journey. I would recommend them to anyone who needs good solid instruction.

I'm an absolute "novice" to the world of watercolor, or for that matter, any type of art. I found your web site while searching for anything to do with lessons, etc. and I'm so glad to have found it. I appreciate your work as a "teacher" and with some luck (actually a lot of luck) I'd like to fully understand and develop into this medium. Thanx again.

I found the course to be immensely helpful in taking my painting to the next stage. It also gave me the impetus to get down and do it!

Well, Watercolour Secrets really helped me with my painting skills. My dad loved it. You all should take the time to consider it. I really loved it.

What a great job! The material is presented at a level that beginners can immediately start painting, yet you also provide insight for more advanced students. If you want to learn watercolour, this is the dvd to buy!!!

Visitor PhotoMichael here in Canada. Want to thank you for this wonderful course at such a low price, talk about value for money. I am retired and just got into drawing and painting a few months ago.

I started with acrylics as they have courses at the retirement comunity center. Then I happened onto your site and got interested in water colour as well. I have learned so much in such a short time due to your very well laid out course and very excellent video, the quality of instruction and the video quality is top notch.

I particularly had trouble with perspective and painting water until I watched your instruction on them. When you take a course at the art center it is very expensive and you only get to have each lesson once, with your course I can watch each lesson many many times which I do. To sum up I think that this is a fantastic course for anyone interested in watercolour painting at basically a give away price considering all the vast amount of work that must have gone into producing it. Count me in for all future courses Bob.

I was just starting with watercolor painting when I discoved your video demo. I was very impressed and intersted, so as soon as it was possible I ordered the all videos.

First I would like to thank you, because it's very helful. and the way you are teaching is very pleasant. I draw more than I paint but it s a good way even to progess in drawing. I watch a video course before starting to paint to fix some points and I think it works well. Again thanks Bob, please excuse my english.
