Watercolour Secrets is run by Paintbox Art Media Ltd - a fully registered and licensed business based in the UK (and affectionally titled after Bob's wife Pam).

The company was founded several years ago by Bob Davies after his first site how-to-draw-and-paint.com quickly gathered recognition.

Today, Paintbox Art Media Ltd's websites receive over 1.5 million unique visitors per year with over 100,000 subscribers to it's free newsletter.

While the company is small, close-knit and underpinned by a strong family connection, we take business and professionalism very seriously. Customer service is our utmost priority and our moto is... "To have no unhappy customers."

Q. Why don't we have a phone number?
The majority of our customers live outside the UK (where we're based). We found that, because of the big time differences, unless we personally manned the phones 24-hours a day, many people would simply be met with an answer machine.

We tried outsourcing phone support to a couple of call centres but they couldn't provide a good enough service. When you use our contact form, you can state a phone number (and time zone) if you wish to be called back - and that way you don't pay a penny for the call!

That belief stems from many years of working, in-person, with beginner and amateur artists.

I've seen first hand, that by keeping things simple and focusing on the basic building blocks of watercolour painting, amazing things can happen...

In no time at all, beginners lacking confidence start producing paintings that stagger them - paintings they want to show off, watercolours that look rich, vibrant and uplifting (and in some cases they end up selling to friends and family!).

Frustrated at School

So many of my students have told me that they passed through school wanting to learn art, but were frustrated that they were never taught basic techniques.

Far too often they were told to concentrate on creating 'mood' and 'energy' and 'themes'.

They tried, but floundered because they were never shown how to draw simple shapes like trees, or led through the principles of perspective. So they gave up altogether. Sadly, they lost art - and art lost them...

This mirrors my own experience at school i.e. "...develop your theme and you'll pick up the basics as you go along..."

Well no, actually you don't!

You need to understand some simple building blocks of drawing and painting techniques before you get into the heady heights of symbolism and representation in your work.

And that's exactly what Watercolour Secrets helps you to do!
